SPECIAL EVENTS

"A Happening Halloween"
Held in October with the assistance of various local businesses and other groups,
 this special family oriented community event is designed to provide
 a safe and fun "Trick or Treating" alternative. During the evening of the event, the 
 Fremont Community Recreation Complex is transformed into a "carnival atmosphere"
complete with games, prizes, food and "Trick or Treating." 

"The Scarecrow Sprint Cross Country Race"
Held annualy in November on the
 Walsh Park Cross Country Course, one of the most chellenging in Northwest Ohio. Awards given to top finishers in various age categories. All ages welcome.

Hershey Youth Track and Field Program
Held annually in Fremont, this program is open to all youth ages 9 to 14. Winners of various events earn the right to advance to further levels of the competition.

Fourth of July Parade
Conducted annually by the Fremont Parks and Recreation Department, the parade is a highlight of the summer.

Sandusky County Builders Association Home Show
Held annually during the first full weekend in March at the Fremont Community Recreation Complex, the Home Show is a great way to kick off the spring.

Camel Back 4 Mile Road Race
This road race is held every June and is sponsored by the News-Messenger, the Fremont Elite Road Runners and the Fremont Parks and Recreation Department. The event features a challenging 4 mile road course, 2 mile walk, 2K youth race and "Camel Calves" race for younger children. 2008 will mark the 30th Anniversary of the race.

Ohio State vs. Michigan Blood Drive
Held in conjunction with the big game, the real winner is the American Red Cross, which receives a much needed donation to their blood supply.

Amusement Park Tickets
The Fremont Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association, sells discounted tickets to various amusement parks during the spring and summer.

he Recreation Department Staff manages and operates the award winning Fremont Community Recreation Complex as well as planning and administering quality programs for the Fremont community.

Over 17,000 youth and adults participated in recreation programs and activities in 2007. These participants formed 330 adult and youth teams.

The Recreation Department employed 110 people in various seasonal and part time capacities during 2007. More than 200 volunteer coaches and managers donated their time in 2007 to help with programs and activities.

YOUTH BASEBALL
Operating with the guidance of the Baseball Board, the league consists of 6 divisions and takes place annually in May, June and July.

BASKETBALL

3rd & 4th Grad
e Basketball: Open to all boys and girls in grades 3 and 4 in 
Sandusky County.  Program will teach the fundamentals of dribbling, passing
and shooting in a clinic type setup.  League games will follow towards the
end of the porgram.

5th & 6th Grade Boys: Open to boys in grade 5 or 6.
5th & 6th Grade Girls: Open to girls in grade 5 or 6.
Middle School Division: Open to any boy or girl not participating on their
school team.

"Keep the Pride Alive Basketball Clinics": Conducted by Coach Sue Wolfe
and Coach Mark Gedeon and the Varsity and Junior Varsity basketball players
of Fremont Ross High School.  The clinic emphasizes teamwork, skill
development and overall enhancement of basketball skills.  Call the Recreation
Department for mor details.

ICE HOCKEY
Affiliated with the USA Hockey Program, participants play under the banner of the Fremont Youth Hockey Boosters Association. The Fremont Parks and Recreation Department and FYHBA work hand in hand to provide the best possible Ice Hockey experience to our youth.

YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL
Held annually in the fall, the program is open to any boy or girl in the 5th and 6th grade.

RECREATION CAMP
A Day Camp type program is held throughout the summer and is based at the Fremont Community Recreation Complex. Participants enjoy a variety of activities and are supervised by a caring and well-trained staff. A "Holiday" version is also held during the school year when children are on break from school.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Held at the FCRC duirng the winter. Leagues include: Men's A League, Men's C League and Men's B League.



ADULT VOLLEYBALL
Three separate seasons of Adult Volleyball (Fall, Winter and Summer) are offered at the Fremont Community Recreation Complex.
